Recent Developments
The mandate for modernization of Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) was given to GVK in February '06. The Operations Management and Development Agreement (OMDA) was signed between MIAL and AAI on the 4th of April 2006 and the airport operations were handed over to MIAL on 3 May 2006.

The initial months were dedicated to upgrade immediate areas of passenger convenience such as the kerbside, terminal entrances, improve housekeeping & maintenance and cleanliness of all areas and facilities in the airport. Some of our HR initiatives were started early on such as employee communication and training.

  • refurbishment of domestic & international terminals
  • additional check-in counters
  • in-line baggage system
  • more F&B options
  • more retails
  • more passenger lounges
  • child play area & gaming zone
  • better housekeeping
  • improved signages
  • aesthetic changes
  • better kerbside management
  • multilevel car park at international terminal
  • smoother traffic flow
  • upgradation of the runway approach lights to CAT II level
  • resurface & maintenance of runways
  • additional taxiways
  • demolition of existing international terminal 2A
  • phase wise shifting of airlines from international Ter 2A to 2B
  • construction of new integrated passenger terminal at Sahar flagged-off
