Once you have cleared Immigration, you are to move towards Customs Clearance.
There are two channels of Customs clearance for arriving passengers:
Green Channel - for passengers not having any dutiable goods or other items for which declaration is not required.
Red Channel - for passengers having dutiable goods or any other items for which declaration is required, however
(i) All the passengers must file correct declaration of their baggage.
(ii) All passengers shall deposit the customs card which is duly completed and given to the custom official at the exit before leaving the terminal.
(iii) Declaration of the foreign exchange/currency shall be made to the Customs authorities in the following cases:
(a) Where the aggregate value of the foreign currency notes exceeds US $ 5000 or equivalent; and/or
(b) Where the aggregate value of the foreign exchange including currency exceeds US $ 10,000 or equivalent.
(c) Indian currency exceeding Rs 25000.
Walking through the Green Channel with dutiable / prohibited/ restricted goods by passengers is an offence which may result in seizure, confiscation, prosecution/arrest and penal action.
Carrying of Narcotics and Psychotropic substances is a serious offence punishable by law.
