Routes Airport Marketing Award
• MIAL was awarded the Routes Airport Marketing Awards (2012) in the Middle East and
India category at the 10th Routes Asia Airport Marketing Awards for its innovative marketing
strategies and execution.
New Airlines & Routes
• Air China started new services from Shanghai via Chengdu to Mumbai from May, 2012.
• Iraqi Airways started services from Bagdad via Najaf to Mumbai from May, 2012 after a gap
of 20 years.
• MIAL & Virgin Atlantic made the official announcement on 15th March 2012 to resume services
from 28th October, 2012 with 7 frequencies per week.
• MIAL marketing team worked closely with MoCA-India for the grant of traffic rights to Air Astana
to fly from Almaty to Mumbai MoCA-India has finally granted traffic rights to the airline.
• Kenya Airways and Singapore Airlines was granted additional traffic rights to/from Mumbai
during the ICAN Conference in October 2011, Mumbai
• Maldivian Airline confirmed its plans of connecting Male-Mumbai in November 2012.
• Domestic carrier Indigo Airline started international flights from Mumbai from October 2011
• Domestic carrier SpiceJet started international flights from Mumbai from June,2012
Best Brown Field Airport in PPP model 2009 by APAI
Mumbai, September 21, 2010: Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) was voted the "Best Brown Field Airport in Public - Private Partnership" for the year 2009 in an independent survey of passengers and opinion makers conducted by the Air Passengers Association of India (APAI) jointly with the Consumers Association of India. The award was handed over to Mr. Bryan Thompson, Director - Operations, MIAL, by Mr. BS Raghavan, IAS (Rtd) - Former Advisor to UN, at a ceremony in Chennai that was well attended by several dignitaries from the aviation sector.
The main parameters considered in this survey based on "Responsibilities & Rights of Airline Passengers" were service efficiency, improvement in passenger facilities, the opening of the brand new domestic Terminal 1C connecting Terminals 1A & 1B, efficient baggage handling and immigration. The survey was conducted online through the APAI website amongst its members, aviation correspondents from across India and frequent flyers from various industry bodies. The Air Passengers Association of India is India's only national, non-profit organization which is totally dedicated to the welfare of air passengers.

This award is a reinforcement of CSIA's efforts to enhance passenger experience and underlines its status as one of India's busiest airports, currently being upgraded to cater to 40 million passengers by 2012. Between the period of April 2009 - March 2010, CSIA catered to 25.6 million passengers and 551,189 tonnes of cargo.
CSIA the best airport in the country/4th among global airports for > 15 mppa
Mumbai, Monday, 26th July, 2010: The Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) has been rated the best airport in India for airports above 15 million passengers per annum (mppa) in the ASQ (Airport Service Quality) survey carried out by Airport Council International (ACI) in the second quarter of 2010. It was ranked 4th amongst all airports globally in the 15-25 mmpa category second quarter of 2010.
CSIA received a commendable overall satisfaction score of 4.34 for the second quarter of 2010. This is a distinct improvement over the earlier satisfaction scores of 4.20 in the first quarter of 2010 and 3.83 in the second quarter of 2009. Moreover, CSIA has been ranked 23rd across all categories from amongst a total of 146 airports that participated in the survey conducted in the second quarter of 2010. It was previously ranked 41st amongst 143 airports in the first quarter of 2010 and 87th amongst 131 airports in the second quarter of 2009.
The parameters considered while carrying out the survey include aspects such as airport service efficiency, quality of service facilities, connectivity, ease of navigational items, value for money, service delivery standards and staff helpfulness amongst others.

The Airports Council International (ACI) is an autonomous and independent body that undertakes the ASQ Survey capturing passengers' immediate perception of the quality of more than 34 aspects of service that they have experienced at the airport. The ASQ surveys are carried out on a quarterly basis and the results are published accordingly. This programme is global and airports subscribe to it through ACI.
Best Airport In Public - Private Partnership 2007 by Air Passengers Association of India
In 2007, CSIA was voted as the "Best Airport In Public - Private partnership" in an independent survey of passengers and opinion makers conducted by the Air Passengers Association of India (APAI).
The main parameters considered for this survey were cleanliness, amenities, comfort and customs/immigration. The survey was conducted online through the APAI website among its members, aviation correspondents from across India and frequent flyers from various industry bodies. Additionally printed forms were also distributed amongst the passengers across the country.
This prestigious award holds great significance as the Air Passengers Association of India is India's only national, non-profit organization that is dedicated to the welfare of air passengers.
CSIA wins 'Aeronautical Excellence Airport of the Year' award from Frost & Sullivan
March 2008 brought another excellence award for CSIA. Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific Aerospace & Defense Awards honoured CSIA with the 'Aeronautical Excellence Airport of the Year' for its commendable efforts in developing the aeronautical segment of the airport. This award confirms the status of CSIA as the leading airport in India along with its competitive ranking in the Asia Pacific region.
CSIA's ATC Tower design wins a prestigious design award in Hong Kong
CSIA's proposed Air Traffic Control Tower won the 'Autodesk Hong Kong Building Information Modeling (BIM) Award 2009'. Designed by the global architecture firm, HOK International Limited, this proposed tower was one of the five winners that year. This award recognizes MIAL's modernization effort to upgrade aeronautical related facilities at CSIA.
This award is given for a range of accomplishments, including innovative use of BIM in building design decisions, sustainable design decisions and business practice transformation, brings into focus MIAL's constant endeavor to strive for global excellence.
CNBC AWAAZ announces CSIA as the 'Best Managed Airport' for 2009
MIAL was honoured with the Best Managed Airport Award by the CNBC AWAAZ Travel Awards for 2009. CNBC Awards honour the best in class organizations, destinations, infrastructure and service providers.
This award is based on an objective and comprehensive study that is conducted by a leading research firm across 12 cities with several thousands of respondents voting for their choice of travel services and destinations.
This prestigious recognition is an eloquent testimony of the collective efforts put in by MIAL to make CSIA an international landmark.
