  • T2's Mega Apron

    The mammoth apron project consists of construction of over 8, 75,000 sq. m of pavement. These underground facilities include over 6 kilo meters of fuel pipelines, 5 kilo meters of drainage, five oil water separators, and miles of cables running through electrical ducts that power high-mast lights, power stations and other support equipment.

  • T2’s Mega Capacity
    The design of T2 combines international and domestic passenger services under one roof. The highly flexible planning will ultimately accommodate About 50 million passengers per year while operating 24 hours daily.
  • T2’s Mega Landscape
    The T2 landscape comprises of around 80 types of plant species indoors. The total quantity is around 77,000 in number, which includes plants for the vertical garden.
  • T2’s Mega Check Facility
    168 nos. of Economy Check-in Counters, 20 nos. of VIP/CIP Check-in Counters, 8nos. of International to International Transfer desks and 19 nos. of Recheck-in counters Around 6.4 kms of Conveyor belts are used for transporting baggage
  • T2’s Mega Closure
    The Head House Roof (HHR) has 28 major skylights, consisting of an intricate combination of 272 pieces of glass (sourced from China) built on a steel framework At 500 sq. m. each, these are the largest skylights ever built in Asia. Along with the major skylights there are 244 minor skylights, with a size of 140 sq. m. each. The entire layout of 272 skylights covers over 30000sq. m, resembling a diamond studded jewel in the HHR. The total length of the terminal's external facade is 2.92 km.

    97% of the T2 building is designed to be covered by an In Building Solution (IBS) that will cater to all mobile phone users. The IBS technology provides for a neutral infrastructure accommodating GSM, 3G and CDMA can-iers, thus, enabling cell phone providers to offer seamless network to all subscribers at the Terminal.
  • T2’s Mega Transportation Facilities
    T2 has India's tallest airport escalator which is 11.6 m in height and serves from the 6th to 10th level of MLCP. The terminal’s transportation facilities also include 72 lifts, 48 escalators, 37 travelators, 6 Scenic lifts will be installed to enhance the aesthetic view of the airport and one AOCC round glass seamless glass doors lift will be exclusive for VVIPs

  • Area of granite used is 1,85,000sq.m., enough to cover 27 footballs fields
  • 946 hand-crafted chandeliers have been procured from the Czech Republic
  • A total of 52,700 sq.m. of GFRG was specially manufactured for the cladding of the head house interiors and skylights
  • Total area of skylight glass-over 30,000 sq.m., enough to cover Wimbledon's Centre Court six times
  • Approximately four kilometers of LED lighting has been used to illuminate the facade - a kilometer and a half short of the length of the BandraWorli Sea Link
  • Total area of facade glazing is 45,150 sq.m., enough to wrap the Air India HQ building in glass, more than two times
  • The wooden-look jaali screens + ceiling panels are made out of metal panels, negating the use of precious natural wood
  • 5698 (Lenses ) and 712 (Clear Glass) number of specially designed lenses known as `Dichroic lenses' move in accordance with the changing direction of the sun, reflecting onto the check-in hall flooring, an array of colours reminiscent of a peacock feather

  • A sewage treatment plant of 10 (MLD) million litres per day capacity, based on the Sequential Batch Reactor (SBR) technology, is being implemented at T2 for the first time in India.
  • Six diesel generator sets of 3 MVA, 11 KV specifications are being installed. They operate in parallel based on the load requirement.
  • The chilled water piping has a complex distribution network of 28 km, circulating chilled water between the plant room and the terminal.
  • The ducting that circulates cold air between the air handling units and the terminal has a span of 3,00,000 sq. m.
  • To deal with fire emergencies, the life safety scheme provides smoke exhaust fans, staircase and lift well pressurization fans.
  • The unique use of grooved coupling in the piping of the Fire Protection System (FPS) saves construction time and reduces pollution caused due to welding.
  • The use of more than 1,00,000 light fixtures, with 85 variants, makes lighting of the terminal an important aspect of all services.
  • The departure hall contains approximately 946 imported chandeliers, adding to the ambiance of the terminal.
  • The Fire Alarm System (FAS) comprises of 70,000 detection devices with 400 km of cables spread throughout the terminal.
  • The FAS is unique in its interfacing with various life safety systems, with more than 18,000 interface modules. The systems are the public address system, electrical system, security system, air conditioning system, fire protection system, CCTV system, lighting system, VHT, BMS and BHS.
  • The elevated road surface can accommodate about 277 tennis courts or about 1080 badminton courts.
  • The total length of pre-stressing HT strand used is equal to the distance between Mumbai and Milwaukee.
  • The height of central void former is large enough for Michael Jordan to comfortably walk in it without bending.
  • Total periphery of the MLCP is 910 m.
