Air Canada Launches Mumbai-Toronto Non Stop Operations
Air Canada launched its maiden nonstop flight between Mumbai and Toronto on 2nd July, 2017. This service operates 4 times weekly on a B787-900 aircraft. This is CSMIA’s 3rd non-stop flight connection to North America and the maiden one to Canada, with a flying time of approximately 15 hours one way.
The launch ceremony was attended by Mr. Nadir Patel, High Commissioner for Canada to India, Mr. Jordan Reeves, Consul General of Canada, and senior officials of Air Canada and Consulate office.
North America is a booming aviation market with a demand of nearly 5,600 passengers per day, each way, from Mumbai and its catchment area, growing at 6% CAGR. The new nonstop connectivity on Mumbai-Toronto route by Air Canada will serve the passenger demand of entire Canada.

Thai Lion Air launches Mumbai - Don Mueang Non Stop Operations
Thai Lion Air launched its maiden flight connecting Mumbai with Don Mueang International Airport in Bangkok on 27th September, 2017. This service operates twice weekly on a B737 aircraft. This service marks operations to two airports in Bangkok, acting as a catalyst to bridge immense passenger traffic potential between Mumbai-Thailand.

CSMIA celebrates 50 years of operations by Air France at T2
The year 2017 marks 50 years of committed air service between Mumbai-Paris route by Air France. On 7th September 2017, CSMIA collaborated with Air France to celebrate Air France’s Golden Jubilee at Mumbai Airport. Air France has been operating out of Mumbai since 1967, catering to the huge demand of passengers between the two cities with a daily service on Boeing 777-200 aircraft.

MIAL was awarded the esteemed National Tourism Award 2015-16, in the category of ‘Best Airport in Class X (metro) Cities’ for the second consecutive year. The award for the ‘Best Airport’ category is designated for the Airport in India that fulfills the following criteria - creation of tourist-friendly infrastructure, maintenance and upkeep of the airport and adoption of eco-friendly practices. MIAL has emerged victorious across all parameters making this award a testament to its commitment towards placing CSMIA on the map of the world’s best airports.

Van Mahotsav initiative by MIAL
Van Mahotsav initiative by MIAL
Van Mahotsav, a week long annual tree planting festival, was observed across the country. On 6th July, 2017, MIAL joined hands with a local NGO to convert barren forest land into a green cover at Rabale in Navi Mumbai. Through this pilot initiative, MIAL sowed native species which included Kanchan (Phanera varieata), Jambul (Syzygium cumini), Shisam (Dalbergia sissoo), Bakul (Mimusops elengi), and Kusum (Schleichera oleosa). These plants will be maintained by the company for the next seven years in collaboration with NGO ‘HARIYALI’.

MIAL organizes World Hepatitis Day 2017
MIAL’s commitment towards health and well-being of passengers, employees and other stakeholders has been portrayed through its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative of organizing a free check-up camp on World Hepatitis Day 2017 - 28th July. The ultimate objective of this initiative was to create awareness and curb the spreading of Hepatitis. MIAL, in association with SRL Diagnostics conducted free Lipid profile and Liver Health Screening at the Medical Centers located inside CSMIA’s Terminal 1 & 2 for travelers and MIAL employees. The day-long camp received an enthusiastic response with more than 1000 passengers participating in the health drive.

On 19th August, 2017, Helios - luxury watch brand from Titan, marked its entry into travel retail segment with its first airport store in India at Terminal 1, CSMIA. The expansive retail arena at the CSMIA, coupled with the high number of passenger footfalls, encouraged the brand to enter the increasingly appealing segment of airport retail. The offerings at the Helios airport store cater primarily to a younger audience, since a majority of sales for the brand come from shoppers under the age of 40. The outlet provides a global shopping experience to its patrons, bringing watch and timepiece enthusiasts a bouquet of over 30 brands from the world over. CSMIA’s commitment towards offering an enriching retail experience to transiting passengers has successfully made it an unparalleled shopping and leisure destination.

Jaya He - GVK New Museum was a proud participant of United Nations World Tourism Day which was celebrated on 27th September, 2017. The UN declared this year as - “International Year of Sustainable Tourism”. CSMIA is gateway for tourists in India and Jaya He connected its essence of promoting Indian art and cultural heritage with sustainable tourism, by promoting ‘Travel for Art’. Jaya He collaborated with like-minded ventures in the field of tourism to bring in some very exciting engagement activities like Jaya He Safari, Warli Painting and Pottery Making for the visitors at Mumbai Airport.
